Edward J. Berry
Servant Law is headed by Attorney Edward J. Berry. Mr. Berry attended Alabama A&M University on a full athletic and academic scholarship. Mr. Berry graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1995 and attended the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University on a full scholarship. While at Cumberland, Mr. Berry served as President of the Black Law Students Association and was a member of the award winning Cumberland Trial Team. Mr. Berry clerked for several prestigious law firms during his law school career, including the Burr, Forman firm, the Starnes & Atchison firm, Hare, Wynn, Newell and Newton as well as Thomas, Means, Gillis and Seay. Upon graduation in 1998, Mr. Berry passed the Alabama State Bar and began work as an associate attorney with Thomas, Means, Gillis and Seay, P.C. Mr. Berry handled auto accidents, trucking accidents, slip and falls and defective product cases for the firm throughout the state of Alabama. Mr. Berry co-founded the firm’s Workers’ Compensation department in 1998. In 2000, Mr. Berry accepted a position with the Jones and Davis, P.C. firm to manage it’s litigation department. After several years of successful litigation practice, the name of the firm was changed to Jones, Davis and Berry, P.C. and later Jones and Berry, P.C.
In over 14 years of law practice, Mr. Berry has distinguished himself as an authority in the area of workers’ compensation law. Mr. Berry lectures in the area around the state and is the author of a book on Alabama Workers’ Compensation formerly entitled So…..You’ve Been Injured on The Job in Alabama. Due to the popularity of his book, Mr. Berry has recently issued a sequel to the original book called, The ABC’s of Alabama Workers’ Compensation.
Mr. Berry also has considerable expertise in other areas of injury and employment law, including auto accidents, trucking accidents, slip and falls, defective products, the Family Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Mr. Berry has also written articles and lectured around Alabama in various areas of injury and employment law.
Mr. Berry has successfully handled very small cases (under $10,000.00) and very large cases (multi-million dollar cases). Mr. Berry has handled cases in state courts throughout Alabama and has argued before the Alabama Supreme Court. Mr. Berry has also handled cases in federal court throughout Alabama.
Melissa Bryant
Melissa Bryant is a career legal assistant with over twenty-five year’s experience. Melissa is the first point of contact at Servant Law, and she takes that role very seriously. She provides a wide range of support for our clients and Attorney Berry, and keeps the office running smoothly. She began working with Attorney Berry at his previous law firm of Jones and Berry, P.C. in 2003, and has been his legal assistant at the Servant Law since it began in January of 2013.
Melissa has been married to her husband, Marty, since 1988 and they are the proud parents of two (2) grown sons. She is actively involved with her church, and in her free time, enjoys traveling with her family.
Veronda Berry
Veronda Berry brings over 15 years of Marketing and Public Relations experience to Servant Law. She attended Alabama A&M University and graduated with honors in 1994 with a B.S. degree in Marketing. Veronda has worked in corporate marketing for the banking and healthcare industries. She also has a rich history working in the advertising agency environment where she served as an Account Executive and managed multi-million dollar marketing budgets for well known corporations. Outside of working, Veronda enjoys relaxing, gardening and spending time with her husband and daughter.
